Death by Rose

By Matt Sise

If I die I want a rose to cause my death
Because that would be the loveliest way to leave
Its beautiful fragrance would suffocate my breath
The thorns could prick me and make me bleed
And as the roses tore me apart
I would scream, "I'm the one with luck"
Outside they were laughing, but in their heart
They knew with their boring deaths they were stuck
As I left this life and started anew
I looked ahead to the future and enjoyed the past
I know that no matter what I do
My next life won't be the last
